Fun Monday

Lisa is our gracious hostess this week - Thank you Lisa!! Her assignment is the following:

Let’s meet your pets. I think most of us have at least one pet and I would like to see your fluffy or scaly pal. If you don’t have a camera you can tell us about him/her/them. If you don’t have a pet tell us about a pet you had or a pet you want. If for some weird reason you hate all animals we want to know why gosh-dang-it.

Great topic especially since we have a houseful of pets!! If you read my blog regularly you have already met them in their morphing personas, but this time I will introduce them to you in their "normal" personas.

This is Leo our leopard gecko. He loves to ride around on Michael's shoulder. If you are looking for a low maintenance, non smelly pet, than I highly recommend this little guy. Actually, we don't know for sure if he is a he or a she, but to me he has the "phallic" look, so I call him a he!! All he needs is a cricket or two thrown to him regularly and he is happy!!
This is Zack. He is almost 10 years old and is a boxer/lab cross. Actually we think he is a freak of nature because he weighs 130 pounds and I have never seen a lab or a boxer weigh that much!! In this picture he is sharing his bed with Tucker. As you can see he is a big sweetheart!! We love this big galoot!

These are our 2 cats Tucker and Rooney. Rooney is the orange boy and he is named after my favorite soccer player - Wayne Rooney from Manchester United - the best soccer team in the world!! Sorry, I digress....Rooney we adopted from a rescue organization when he was 8 weeks old, he is now almost 2 years old. Tucker is the sweet one hugging his brother. He is still a kitten in the photo...he is now bigger than Rooney. We rescued him when he was 2 weeks old, he just turned one last October. My brother had a feral momma dump her babies on his doorstep. He was bottlefeeding all 3 of them (what a nice guy!!). We took Tucker and then found homes for the other 2. Tucker is a little slow in the head and we are sure he would never have made it as a feral!! He is very handsome though!!

This handsome devil is our newest addition. His name is Baron and he is a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. In the photo he is about 4 months old. He is now almost 8 months old and we figure he weighs about 80 pounds...another moose in the house!! He is our very first pedigreed pup....all our other dogs have been rescues. My good friend is a breeder and GAVE us this monster for free...well actually, we all know how "free", free pets actually are!! He is a very good puppy, is training well, and we hope to train him to be a Therapy Dog.

This little guy is our box turtle. His name is Turdy (named by our 7 year old!!) He is hibernating in our yard somewhere at the moment and we hope to see him again in a few months.

Thanks for stopping by and meeting the critters....now hop on over to Lisa's place to see all the other fine pets us bloggers have!!

Variety is the spice of life with you guys great post.
BTW I (and about half the people who live in Queensland) have Asian (barking) gecko's as resident insect repeler's living in my house, they are only small, up to about 4 inches long and really sound like they are barking on a hot summers night.
They have settled in and are breeding, the smallest one I've seen was only about half an inch long.

Like Laurie, I was lost on the first pic. I guess we aren't too observant, or this obviously bright gecko could be a chameleon. HA!

All of your animals are so cute! I love to see cats that actually like each other. One day, I hope mine will ...

I know several labs that got huge like that. I think it must be a baby huey thing (or an endocrine problem)

You have some oddities there (Turdy and Leo) So, do they act like they know you???

Wow! What a menagerie! Love them all. Let's see the gecko is way cool! And I love how Zack is cuddling with Tucker!

Terrific Fun Monday!! I just adore animals! I'm especially partial to my dogs! I would have many more if only my husband would let them in the house....

my4kids said...

Wow you have a lot of pets!
Those dogs are big. I had a kitten once that we found abandoned when it was about 2-3 weeks old and we bottle fed him also. That is a lot of work with one let alone 3!

Aha! Me thinks somebody has more pets than me! I am so jealous of Leo, I heart lizards too much! That is one pet I have not managed to move in just yet. Sigh.

Blazing Blunderbuss!!! You DO like your animals!!! Brilliant photos! My stupid dog would go for all of them and then realise he is a coward and run away!

The gecko would creep me out! rofl

I love the photo of Baron how the sun is shining on him....great photo. cool pets!!!!

Have a FUN MONDAY!

Hi Alison, you're a good mom to allow all those creatures in your home. Good for the children to learn about being good caretenders. I can see your pup as a therapy dog--the CB look so strong but they need to be kept busy, right?

Anonymous said...

I LOVE LEO.... he can come visit anytime!! Your kitties look like they could be my kitties' siblings. Great post and good to meet your 'family'.

I love geckos! They are so fun to watch and great pets for kids with allergies.

ChrisB said...

I'm always fascinated by geckos but I don't think I could feed live crickets. I assume they are live!

I'm interested in Baron going to be a therapy dog~ can you tell us more about that sometime!

Megnificent said...

Awww, a regular ole zoo you have there! What great pets! A vast variety, too!

Both of our labX are big like that...and I really wanted a little dog, sigh...

You've got a wonderful collection of critters.

I love your dogs! I love all of your critters, actually, but I am partial to dogs, to big dogs. Love the picture of the lab with the kitty - so cute!

Great animals, they look so friendly!
I've seen male labs get to 150 lbs, mine was 125-135, so maybe Zack isn't such a freak of nature? ;)

at first i thought that you were putting your boy up as a pet then i saw the reptile..

our parents lab (Cole) will likely be over 100 lbs. Willie will be at least 80. they are both at least 75, no one can pick them up and weigh them on a regular scale so its hard to tell. anyway, their mom was 115 and dad 85 so... we'll see!

Anonymous said...

My kids have never asked for a reptile, but I'd get 'em one if they did...they're pretty low maintenance which is a plus in their column. Leo looks right at home on Michael's shoulder:).

And Zack, ai yi yi, what a sweetheart--you can just tell these things. Are your furbabies look happy and loved, they KNOW they've got great humans for pets ;).

Baron looks regal..and I'm sure if you choose to do so, he'll make a great therapy dog...(keep us posted).

I love dogs that will let the cats snuggle with them. So sweet!

You have a very nice collection of pets.

LOL Turdy the turtle LOL love it! You have a house full of pets and they're all adorable!

Zack looks like a total sweetheart! Read your comment on my blog...snakes are very easy pets to own. They are quiet and you only have to feed them once a week! If you've never owned a snake before, I'd suggest starting out with a corn snake or a ball python (they don't get real big). Believe it or not, snakes have different personalities. I've had some that were so gentle and others that were ornery! If you can get babies, all the better. Good luck and looks like you have wonderful furry members of your family.

Wow what a houseful! And Zack is one big dog!

We had a leopard gecko for a long time and she was a really great pet. My kids loved her and she really had a lot of personality.

I'm happy to see another big dog person on Fun Monday. And that puppy is so cute you could eat him up.

Gimme a High 5!! I heart big dogs! a month ago Luke was 96 lbs and still growing! His Daddy has got to be close to 150! I need to get a picture of his parents.

I just love Turdy. We rescued a box turtle from our neighbors. They snatched her and another from their backyard...I'll have to tell you the story later... email me so I can email you.

Love the cats! Your Rooney does indeed look like my Pretty Girl, though Rooney has a much cooler tail. Butterbean had a big fluffy tail like that. Of course he weighed about 20 pounds so he was fluffy all over!

Quite the little menagerie you've got!! I think your big lab snuggling the kitty is adorable!

Turdy? Snort!!

Alison!! I instantly see a mastiff in your dog. He might be mixed with a lab or something but that dog definitely has mastiff features. WE have an english mastiff and they come in apricot, fawn and brindle. There is another mastiff and they are the napoleon mastiffs and they are completely black. HENCE HIS SIZE! Check it out with your vet. Our mastiff is 2 years old and weighs 145 pounds. (only going to get bigga) Do a google search or flikr search of owners with mastiffs and you will begin to recognize your little guys face in many other dogs. I think he is gorgeous and love him!! I love that you love animals. Your family is so fun.

I "ditto" everything that Kaytabug said, I hate it when she comments before me!!! Love all the puppy pics. The gecko is big too!!!! We will pet sit if needed!!!

would you believe that he was completely fine, when he got home!!! i was so relieved because all day i worried that he was going to come home running a really high fever and then i would have felt so horrible for him but...thankfully, i really truly believe he is suffering from major allergies, due to the crazy weather we are having!!

Wow, you have quite a few pets. They look great. Your cats are very pretty. We know someone with a turtle but haven't had one ourselves. The son and daughter each had a anole at one time.

That picture of Tucker with Zack is priceless!! You have pretty nice looking pets.

I've never seen a leopard gecko before. Very cool!

One of my relatives used to have a maine coone named Tucker. I've always liked that name for a cat.

Rooney's tail is amazing!

Seems like you have a very fully house! nothing makes me happier than seeing a big dog curled up with a teeny kitten.

The New Fun Monday topic is now available. :)

Hey, someone else with a variety of pets. Wow, we have a black lab mix, but he's only about half the size of yours. He sure does look like a 'Gentle Giant'.
As I am a real Cat lover, your kitties are adorable.

We have a family of Geckos that live under our kitchen window sill, that come out at night to feast.

Fun pets you have.
