Fun Monday

Welcome to the Vacation edition of Fun Monday. We are all virtual travelers this week and I am sure our trip will take us around the world!!! I hope everyone has their passport up to date and is ready to go!!!

My favorite vacation is our annual camping trip to Big Basin State Park in the Santa Cruz mountains of California. We go every year in June. I Love It!!! The air is fresh, the beauty is breathtaking, I feel a sense of peace in a redwood forest....I get rejuvenated.

This is our humble abode for the 4 nights we are there. Nothing better than a tent under a canopy of redwood trees....ahh....the bliss.

We celebrate my birthday in the forest every year..and every year it gets better!!

The trees are magical and awe inspiring.
They are like old friends that we visit year after year.
We also meet some new friends each year.
We go on many hikes throughout the week. We become Trail Blazers!!
We have so much fun together without any electronic distractions...no phones, TV's, computers, music....just good old fashioned human companionship. This is most definitely my favorite vacation spot. I always come home rejuvenated and our family gets a bit closer every year.

Now, we need to pack our bags and head on over to the next vacation spot......Here is the list of our virtual travelers this week....Have fun!!!!

What a beautiful place ! and your "castle" looks awsome ! I still have the smell of the woods in the Sequoia park in my nose ! that also was very special !

Oh what fun! And look at how young you are. Perfect trip for a family with kids that age. They'll never forget these times...
Hope the fires we've been hearing about in the Santa Cruz area are nowhere near your camping spot...

This looks like great fun!! And, I am no camper! As I've blogged, I have tried tho!
To answer your ? on my blog, CVS is a drugstore, not sure where in the US they cover. They are like a Walgreens and are what used to be Eckerds. I'm sure you have something similiar in your area??

Chipping away at your adoption stories!! Love it!!

I haven't played FM for awhile, but I enjoyed sharing your favorite vacation spot. It reminds me of where our cottage is located and I love it there! Happy Early Birthday!

What a great place.

I am too late to properly join in this week, but just posted after returning from a wonderful 4 days in Paris (without the kids!) (who I love dearly). There will be more posts and photos about it I am sure in the next few days, but this post is a start. Hope you join me.

The Sequoiadendron giganteum are indeed awe inspiring, the beauty of the Grand Basin with it's 80 miles of hiking trails can not help but impress the oneness with god. But why oh why the love of the homeless factor, besides the about of stuff one take camps just confounds me.

Opps sorry no post for me this week.

MMMMMMMM, mmmmm, mmmmm. mmmm!!! What a glorious 4 day vacation indeed. I love the photos and your sharing it with us all. That deer....unbelievable! And the stately trees...yes indeedy, this is fabulous.

Thanks for hosting & visiting with me, and thanks for having us go 'round the world today on tour! Great idea.

I never took to camping but after seeing your lovely photos... I could almost be converted!

Well, I felt like I was right there with you. Hubby isn't into camping but I can see where you would enjoy this every year and a birthday to boot.

The photos are beautiful as are the readwood trees. Thanks for sharing.

I'm not much of a camper but my family is; for the Redwood Forest I'd have to tag along. A love how you characterized the trees--magical, inspiring and like old friends.

The greatest part @ camping with your kids is getting detached from the electronic world. We did that, too, on our trip to Yellowstone (and even on our trip to Antigua). My kids don't even seem to notice.

Thanks for hosting, Alison, and for choosing a simple, FUN theme this week!

:)

(p.s. I added you to the Fun Monday master list.)

Wonderful!! We have a family camping trip every summer too. About 24 of us descend on a field surrounded by woodland and, with no electricity, we all make our own entertainment. It's heaven!

Oh, what a cool place to go camping!!! I LOVE camping, and to have such a wonderful place to go to is such a treat. The trees..OMG, how awesome!

You're very lucky. Have a great week!

I want to go!!!!! I've never even SEEN a redwood - at least not yet!

I grew up camping, and can certainly relate. I've camped all over California, the State Parks are great. We gave up camping when Bob decided hotels were for him, and I decided not to split the family!! 45 years gave me a lot of wonderful memories. I'm glad you're gathering yours.

I enjoyed the challenge this week and LOVE the first photo you’ve shared here!!! Your tent looks similar to one I camped in decades ago and mentioned briefly in MY Fun Monday today. What a great way to celebrate your birthday each year! I’ve been to the Santa Cruz mountains and they are lovely ;--)

When you have time, I hope you’ll add my link to the list here. It’s at Small Reflections - Favorite Vacation(s).
Hugs and blessings,

What a nice way to celebrate your birthday each year. My Fun Monday has been posted. I showed pictures taken on our trip last year to Yellowstone National Park.

Isn't it great to have THE one sure spot every year that all the family enjoys? Like your requirements of no electronics--just good family conversation. Hope your kids will want to go to the forest for many years to come.

Alison, I am late for your Fun Monday party. Please add me to the list of participants. Thanks

Some of my favorite moments were camping with the kids. I wish we had camped more often.

I would love to see the redwood forest.
