Milestones

Today was a milestone in my daughter's life. Her godmother picked her up for a little female bonding time. She took her to her house and showed her how to care for her skin and how to apply makeup. She had all the necessary supplies. Her and I have been friends since we were 10 years old and I remember her using Oil of Olay when we were kids....I had to laugh when I saw Cassie pull Oil of Olay out of her bag!!

Cassie had a wonderful time. She was gone for about an hour or so. She left our house a 13 year old and came home a 16 year old in a 13 year old body.

She walked in the house carrying herself differently. Her shoulders were back, a spring was in her step. She was gorgeous and her eyes were sparkling. She looked older, and acted older.

We had a glimpse into the future tonight. Her father was speechless when he first saw her. I don't think he is quite ready for this yet. We told her she was beautiful, and she is. With or without makeup, she is beautiful from the inside to the outside.

"It takes a village to raise a child". This has always been one of my favorite quotes, it is so true. I feel very blessed to have a village help us raise our children. Cassie is a very fortunate girl and we are very fortunate parents. I don't think Cass will forget this day, I am sure I won't.

Thanks Nina....

I will leave you with another poem of Cassie's

I Love To Sing

I love to sing,
It makes my heart ring.
Like the bells in a church,
Like a bird on a perch.
Any type of song,
I can sing all day long.
I love to sing,
It makes my heart ring.

Oh you make my heart sing too Cassie!
Another beautiful poem. And a beautiful job with the make up too! So happy to see that it is applied with finesse to enhance your natural beauty rather than over done with lots of eyeliner etc. Very nice!

My Nana always swore by Oil of Olay she used it forever and my mum uses it now.

The most beautiful thing about a woman is her smile - and Cassie's is stunning!

I still have the tiny bottle that held real perfume that I got for Christmas when I was 12 (from my mother) almost 40 years ago!

These things mean so much to a young lady. I hope she enjoys every minute of her growing up years - they fly by.

What a wonderful milestone!!

I still remember the MAry Kay parties my mom had. I was much younger than Cassie but I learned silly things in those parties that I still do when applying my makeup.

It's such a right of passage! So wonderful!

I love that she had someone besides mom to do this with her! And that the lady showed her less is more, that looking natural, not made up is good. She is beautiful as always!

How wonderful to have a godmother take the time with this rite of passage... sure it could have been you, but there's something extra-special about it being someone else. What a gift. xxoo
