20 years ago today....

Twenty years ago today a 21 year old woman and a 29 year old man vowed their love and commitment to each other in front of 200 of their closest friends and family members. They then proceeded to the local country club and had one of the wildest parties that country club had seen in years. I am sure that half the people at that wedding did not expect it to last more than a few years, at most. A few years later, the bride and groom did not have high hopes of the marriage lasting another month, much less another year.


Twenty years later, we are still married and happier than we have ever been. We spent hours working on bettering ourselves, which in turn bettered our marriage. He is my best friend, my husband, my lover, the father of my children. He makes me laugh daily, cry at times, and holds my hand while walking down the street. He can still melt my insides with his crooked smile, and he can exasperate me with his silliness. He is a wonderful father, a loving husband, a devoted son, and a good person.


This song reminds me of us and our marriage. It started on shaky ground, but we have sowed and reaped our marriage into a strong, beautiful garden.
