Fun Monday

The first Fun Monday of 2009 is being hosted by the lovely Faye, from Summit Musings. Here is her assignment for us:

"What's on your mind as we close out 2008 and begin 2009? Large and small. What are often your first thoughts the minute you wake up? When you're alone and unguarded? Working? Stuck in traffic? Playing with the children? Walking the dogs? When you can't sleep?"

I thought this was going to be easy, but I was wrong. I tried to catch myself at these unguarded moments and remember what I was thinking about. I came to the conclusion pretty quickly that this was not a very good idea. My ideas and thoughts are very random and all over the place. I am afraid if I write them down, someone will think I am insane and have me committed. But, because we are all friends here, I am going to take my chances. If the men in the white coats knock on my door, I will know who called them.

*I wonder if my cat bite is getting infected.

*I wonder if I will lose my arm from the cat bite.

*I should make a hand held sign that says "HANDS FREE' and hold it up to people talking on their cell phones while driving.

*I wonder if I would be breaking the law if I held a hand held sign while driving.

*I wonder if I will make it up this hill without passing out.

*I never knew I could hear my pulse in my ear before, I wonder if that means this hill is too hard to walk up.

*I wonder what this place looked like 500 years ago.

*I wonder what my children will be like as adults.

*Do I have to work today? (first thought upon awakening)

*I wonder if I will ever lose the weight for good.

*I wonder if I will ever be debt free.

As you can see, my mind is pretty random. I am sure there are others, but thoughts go in and out of my mind constantly. This exercise has definitely heightened my awareness of my thoughts. The last two came up quite frequently, obviously they weigh heavy on my mind (no pun intended). This is the year I tackle both of them and hopefully as we ring in the year 2010 I will have made some positive changes in those areas.

Sounds a bit like my mind, except mine answers as well! LOL! Yes I really am mad, but the white coats are going to have to catch me first! I can run pretty fast for a lazy bum too! Te he!

And no your arm is not going to fall off silly. Put your hand over the bite and heal it silly girl. (And if you can't do that ask the faeries to do it for you, you'd be surprised, God does not mind helping in these matters either). 10 minutes four times a day. Oh and take a cup of chamomile tea with honey in at as well after you do your healing. Its good for infection.

I love the way that you answered this Fun Monday challenge. Being somewhat Obsessive-Compulsive, I have many thoughts like your first one. However, the concern passes as I worry about the next thought.

bwaaa ha ha ha ha. I could have written that (except I do know what my kids are like as adults)

My 'wonder" about infection was from scratching myself with a cracked egg shell. darn!

Ahh, but your random thoughts are like the rest. You worry about your health (the arm),weight loss, hearing your pulse), you worry abotu the future, you worry about the state of the society (those people on their cell phones), you wonder about your finances/the economy (do I ahve to get up and work today). See? Just like the rest of us.

Love the random thoughts. But when I first started reading your post, a song came to mind, "They're coming to take me away ha, ha, they're coming to take me away, he he"!!!! Now I'm going to be humming about the men in their little white coats today.

Come read mine if you can find time. Happy Fun Monday!!

I love your honesty, as always. Your cat bite one cracked me up. I hope it is doing better! Money and weight - two things that weigh heavy on so many people's minds, mine included. I am working so hard on listening to guidance from above and willpower down here on earth!

OH, you need some of my Young Living natural oils for that cat bite ! I'm serious. Hope it doesn't get infected and your arm falls off.
Love your randomness. I do the same...and I answer myself...and on occasion...get into arguments with myself.

Well your honest randoms gave me a good chuckle, Alison. However, when the same thing is going on in my head, I call it monkey chatter. Here's what I think about what you think: your arm probably won't fall off, but will get really sore; a "get a handsfree" sign would be a service to everyone on the road, even if it's illegal; hearing your pulse probably just means you should climb that hill more often! As for the weight loss and getting out of debt, when your random thoughts come up with the solution, pass it on to your blog friends!

Wonderful post. I think like that too, but never considered it odd. As far as the last two, change little things, and they will happen.

Those last two are constant players in my mind. I'll be working on them as well!

The rest? Made me laugh!

If men in white coats come for you then I guess you will find some of us there with you (only speaking for myself of course!)

Random, but normal thoughts, join the crowd. Good luck on your goals for the new year.

My random thoughts concern me too at times so...I would not be the one to call in the coats!!

This sounds really familiar - oh yeah - the same voices I hear in my head every day.

I live next door to a school. Every morning and afternoon while I'm waiting for someone to be nice enough to let me cross the street to go get my daughter, I count the number of people who are talking on their cell phones as they fly up the road at well above the posted speed limit. I like the sign idea - maybe "SLOW DOWN AND HANG UP" But they know where I live:(
