Happy Poop

On the day before Thanksgiving, before I started my hours and hours of cooking...we went on a hike. It was wonderful. We found a new hiking trail near our house where the dog could run off leash and we could enjoy the beautiful views.

Our hike started out uphill and continued to climb, and climb, and climb. It must have been at least a mile straight uphill. My lungs were burning and the air was cold...it was very invigorating.Of course Michael not only ran up the hill, he did a few leaps along the way. Youth is wasted on the young. I could have used some of his energy. He wasn't even out of breath!!

When we reached the ridge line we were afforded some incredible views. We could see for miles. It was overcast and raining, but on a clear day we would have been able to see San Francisco. It was well worth the trek.

We hiked through cow grazing territory. We didn't have any close encounters with the cows, we were unsure how Baron would react to them. My wonderful husband found the following and recommended I take a picture of it. He said it would be good blog fodder. He was right.

Everyone guessed correctly...it is Happy Poop. We did not create the Happy Poop...a previous hiker did!! If you want a great laugh...read all the comments in the post below....they are hysterical. Marmite and Tea pointed out the weed that resembles a bow on her Happy Head...too funny...I had not noticed that.

Our hike was wonderful until we got back to the car and we realized that our shoes had 3 inches of mud on them, our clothes were soaking wet, the kids' pants were wet and muddy, and the dog was wet and muddy. Dave had the wonderful idea of all of us taking our shoes and pants off for the drive home. His thought process went a step further as he thought how funny it would be to be pulled over on the way home. The policeman would see a family of four without pants on! Needless to say, we left our pants on, but we did have the kids strip, much to their chagrin!! Did I mention it was raining that day? We were freezing...but happy....just like the Happy Poop Face.

That looks a really lovely place for a hike. Shame about the rain but it clearly didn't stop your enjoyment of the day.

I am so-o-o-o glad I'm not the only one who posts pics of poop and writes about "sinkers" and "floaters."
Me thinks this puts us in a league of our own.
I'm just wondering what writing instrument was used to create this happy face. Looks like a pointer finger to me.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful family adventure with us in such an entertaining manner. Loved the 'happy poop' ... the photos ... and the 'inside (dare I say poop) story' of discretionary consideration of 'pant removal' ... LOL

May you have many more such adventures as a family.
Hugs and blessings,
