Fun Monday

Our most excellent hostess this week is the lovely Molly, who is returning a white robin, or so I've heard. Her assignment is the following:

She wants to hear about our childhood....some good memories...with pictures if possible...

Unfortunately, my scanner is not working so I won't have any pictures....but here are my Happy Childhood Memories....

I loved my dogs Megan, our boxer, and Gwyneth, our poodle/basset hound mix. I spent many hours with my "sisters".....I have 4 brothers so I claimed any sisters I could!!

Every summer we rented a cabin at Pine Grove, which is a little "resort" near Clear Lake, CA. We spent our days at the pool and our nights in the community hall playing bingo.....I loved those days....pure summer fun.

We also went to England and Wales most of the summers. We would spend about a month or so at my aunts' houses. Two of my aunts live on farms, one in the Welsh mountains and one near London. Our days were spent horseback riding all over the Welsh mountains and playing with all my cousins.....wonderful memories from those days.

We also spent a lot of time at the beach and hiking. Most of these adventures were with only my dad. My mom would stay home and I never understood why until I became a mom myself. She would have a whole day with the house to herself....I am sure these were her favorite days during our childhood, especially after a week spent with the 5 of us!!!

Those are some of my fond memories, sorry I didn't have any visuals to accompany them!! For more fond childhood memories head on over to Molly's place.

Thank you for sharing your memories for this Fun Monday. Reading about memories of others does ignite a spark of personal fond memories. Although I never had the chance to ride horseback all over the Welsh mountains, that does indeed sound fabulous fun.

How interesting that you were able to visit relatives in Wales and England as a child, Alison. Have you blogged about this previously? I'd love to read about your visits, if you have.

A poodle/basset mix? I'm trying to get a vision of the "girl"!

How lovely a childhood. I can picture you all sleeping out on a screened pourch or playing in the hay of the farm.

Such great memories you have to talk about. Beaches, mountains, and pools really kept you busy during the summer months.

Sounds like some lovely memories for the whole family! I always wanted to go and check out England, my mum came from there! And has never been back.

...you say "pure summer fun". Yes, I would agree with you, when we were kids, Summers were always the best!!!

My Fun Monday is shared too, I hope you can stop by and read it, if you haven't already --since I'm just now going through the Mr. Linky's at Mollys before I get to my own comments to read who has visited!! Take care, have a great day. [PS --you have to scroll below my 'walk in the park' photos to reach my F M entry!!]

I so wanted to have a brother or sister, just someone in my corner with me as a kid. :)

I would ride a donkey at my cousin's house. :)

Riding over the Welsh mountains sounds like a lot of fun to me but so does spending time in a cabin and hiking and the beach. You have some wonderful memories to look back on:)

Isn't it funny how much better we understand our mothers once we become one. Like- why did my mom always fall asleep as soon as we were in the car? The poor woman was exhausted!!

Moms do need time to themselves. They recharge their batteries and go right on with family service. Yeah moms.

How fortunate to have relatives in a foreign country who are willing to have you stay and experience the land. Wonderful. I'm trying to picture where Clear lake is in California....Is it in Northern Ca.? Anyway fun memories...

Wow! Four brothers! How did you ever get to date? And I agree about the mom thing, can't understand why a mom needs time to herself until you are one!!!!

Sounds like you had lots of fun times!

(Sorry for commenting so late! - now that the kids are home for summer I don't get much computer time anymore!)
